The Gossiping Goddess Bead Giveaway and Challenge

A while back the lovely Lesley Watts of the Gossiping Goddess was offering free lampwork beads that she had been given by her very talented friend Kaz Baildon of Cheeky Cherub Designs and I was lucky enough to get one, here is the lovely bead I was sent....

Isn't it beautiful!

Now while this bead is stunning and in my favourite colours I still had major difficulties with it all due to its size, this is one BIG bead, so I could really make it into a bracelet which is my go to thing, so I had to rethink, now I did try to make a fantastic ornament for my tree but it involved soldering a blue cab in a bezel and that did not work and then I cut out a tree from copper sheet and wired up a different design but that did not work, it just looked all wrong finally after many failed attempts this is what I came up with....
I matched it up with some green and blue spacers and threw in a bit of chain mail and I even made my own toggle clasp

Now if you would like the chance to win this necklace and a few other goodies make sure you come back on Sat 15th Dec as I will be having a giveaway!

A huge thank you going out to Lesley and to Kaz for being so generous and maybe now I wont be so scared to use those big beads!

Why not grab a hot chocolate and see what other beauties have been made.....

  1. Niky I love what you've done with you're bead...I agree big beads can be daunting but your beautiful heavy chain, clasp and setting adds just the right depth and interest while still letting the bead take centre stage. I hope you had fun despite the trials - this design was obviously meant to be. Thank you for joining in the challenge.

  3. I think your design is perfect for a single large and beautiful lampwork bead. I like the simplicity of the chain and handmade clasp. The addition of spacers adds elegance. I love the falling stars too!

  9. Niky, you're so funny! I just refuse to believe you had a hard time, cause I've never seen anything ugly from you! What a wonderful idea to pair the chainmaille with it. And you can count on me coming back on Sat, cause I'd love to win this beauty!

  11. Aah, chainmaille - that works perfectly! I had the same challenge with the size, isn't it lovely when the event pushes you out of your comfort zone?

I love your necklace - the bead is gorgeous (out of all the 'petal' beads yours is the most beautiful... I am partial, I love blue :)) and they way you showcase it through the intricate and elegant chainmaille is amazing!
